We use them all the time for both processing and staining.  Clearite 3 
(Richard Allan) and have used and liked Propar (Anatech) too, both are 
single aliphatic hydrocarbons.   We avoid the orange juice (citrus) 
smelling limonene type since they tend to make some of use ill. Some people 
have become sensitive to these.
