Remember that all neuropath silvers are,
to say the least, capricious (bitter
experience). They can be used to demonstrate anything by varying time,
temp, pH etc. Use the method as a guide but be prepared to vary to suit
local conditions. If possible get a method from a lab with the same
water hardness.
Another avenue worth exploring is immuno. It's
easier and produces good results. Antibodies worth looking at include
PHF-Tau-AT8, Alzheimer Precursor Protein A4, Beta Amyloid and Beta Amyloid
Peptide.
I am looking for a stain to show the
neurofibrillary changes found in Alzheimer's disease. A couple of
findings from our pathologist was the Cross Modified Palmgren stain, with no
reference on how to prepare the stain and the Bielschowski's
technique. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
