RE: Rodent or primate brain matrices
From: | rita.russell@syngenta.com |
Pelco
International in Redding California (www.tedpella.com) supply a wide range of
brain matrices, both metal and acrylic and in a variety of sizes. I've just
purchased some new acrylic ones for rat brain and they are very nice to use and
cheaper than the metal ones which are hard to clean and start to corrode after a
few years use. Use microtome blades to make your cuts.

My Path-o-logist
has aked me to purchase and optimize a procedure using the little mold that
hold a standard animal brain, with these little slots you can cut through
certain parts of the brain(freehand) and then take those sectionjs and use for
FFPA or frozens. Looks like one of the boiled egg slicer type things.
Anyone in histoland have experience, an SOP, or a source regarding this?
This is new to this old histotech. Thanks.
