Processing Manual

Dear Histonetters,

Finally! The VIR (Veterinary, Industry and Research Committee) Animal
Processing Manual is finished and will be available in late September.
Diane Sterchi and I had the pleasure of working on/editing this project
with some wonderful, sharing veterinary histotechnologists. Please read the
following:

VIR NEWS FLASH!!!!

Finally....The VIR Processing handbook will be available at the 2002 NSH
Symposium/Convention in Long Beach. The NSH office will have them
available in printed booklet form (Black and White) and on CD (full color
version).

The handbook will have processing schedules for all types of animals
including birds, reptiles and a wonderful section on marine animals.
Special and routine processing procedures for paraffin and plastics will
grace the forty-some pages of this handbook. Examples of some of the
special processes are eyes, snakeheads, corals, neonates, and stents to
name a few. Examples of routine processes are daily programs, fast
programs, all species, and biopsies. All of processes are those used by
the histotechnologists who graciously gave us permission to put them in
print.

While you are at the 2002 NSH Symposium/Convention, stop by and take a look
at the VIR handbook. It will be available for purchase at that time or if
you are not attending the 2002 NSH Symposium/Convention, you can purchase a
VIR handbook from NSH at:

some guidelines/help.
