if you ask your Leica rep, they can provide you with the studies that were
done to prove the effectiveness of Cryofect which may help convince your
pathologist. I don't recall the specifics of the data to share
here.

We just
got a new Leica Cryostat. The company recommend spray disinfection
with
Leica Cryofect. However, our pathologist is not
convinced that it is
effective against TB. We decide to use formaldehyde
vapour by placing 30ml of
37% formaldehyde in the chamber overnight(with the
Cryostat switched off and
lid closed ) I would like to know if this
procedure really does the work.
Also, after the disinfection,
do we really need to remove the microtome to
dry thoroughly before we
put it back in and turn the machine
on?
Thanks in advance for your input !
