I realized that counterstaining after IHC doesn't depend only on the dye
but also on the preferences of the person who examines the slides
afterwards.
With DAB we like the commercial Mayer's from Dako, because it is giving a
more light blue counterstain than our selfmade one (used for our HE) which
results in more dark blue nuclei.
The time for counterstain is from 10 sec up to 3 min, depending on the
tissue (FFPE or frozens or zinc fixed) and staining intensity of the IHC.
