RE: cryostat cleaning

From:"Johnston, Kathy"

At our site, we clean them every time we cut a suspected "contaminated
specimen" (i.e.. TB) on them which is sometimes weekly as we can do
sometimes 20 - 25 frozens a day. If one of our cryostats somehow misses
being contaminated, it is cleaned once a month regardless. I believe they
use the leica cryofect spray.

Also, we have our cryostats set to defrost every night to keep them clean.

Hope this helps!

Kathy

How often do you clean you cryostat? I've got a safety inspector breathing
down my neck. We do it every two months. Thanks Bruce Gapinski HT(ASCP)
