Chemical safety

From:Barry Rittman

There have recently been several comments about chemical safety.
I have always worked in a lab using the principle to treat everything as
a potential hazard. (without becoming too neurotic).
Being knowledgeable about the chemicals you use by familiarity with the
chemical safety sheets is important but the most important are training
and attitude. Not only your attitude but those of your fellow workers.
No matter how safety conscious you may be, you are also at risk if your
fellow workers do not buy into using appropriate safety precautions.
I would suggest that you give a quick wipe around the counter near the
balance everyone is using to determine whether appropriate technic is
being used to weigh dyes powders.
