Re: gross photography setups (warning- vendor posting)

From:Steven Slap <siksik@vgernet.net>

Hi Histonetters,

Diane Mahovlic at the Cleveland Clinic invited vendors to reply to an
inquiry regarding gross photography setups, so I am going to venture out of
my protective cave and write you a bit about ARGOS.

ARGOS is a digital imaging system for the grossing room, consisting of a
video camera, a foot control box, a computer (CPU) and software, and a
barcode reader. Available options include a waterproof keyboard and mouse,
and wet or dry area copy stands (it can also be mounted directly in a
grossing cabinet).

Why a video, rather than a still camera, you may be thinking? The idea is
to mount the camera, and be able to zoom in on the gross specimen, using the
foot pedal, and keep the specimen in focus without moving the camera, while
you take pictures throughout the depth of field. The software produces jpg
images, which can be annotated on-screen, in real time, with measurements
(the "ruler" is always in calibration at all depths of field also),
indications of where the blocks were taken, and text.

The system is simple to set up, easy to use, and inexpensive.

Contact me by e-mail for a detailed brochure.

END COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

best regards,
Steven Slap
