No.
Nuclear fast red is the better stain to use as it give a cleaner nuclear
stain with less background but requires an aluminum mordant

Dissolve 0.1 gms nuclear fast red in
a 5% aqueous solution of aluminum sulfate by boiling.
Cool.
Filter.
The stain lasts for several weeks.

Stain sections from distilled water for 5-10 mins or longer (difficult to
overstain)
The stain is alcohol fast
