Wow, that is some thick cork. When I worked at my last job (until
yesterday!) we made some pinning boards for pieces of stomach by pouring
our embedding paraffin into old cardboard slide boxes. Harden, peel away
the box, and you have a good solid block of wax. It worked well for
fixing the stomach flat.
	I think you can order slabs of rubber from McMaster-Carr, but I don't
know about cork.
