I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of a staining procedure which
differentially stains neurons and glial cells in cerebral cortex. I have
20 um frozen, cryostat sections of rat prefrontal cortex that have been
perfused with 2% paraformaldehyde. I recently came across a reference
from 1968 whichdescribes a "hematoxylin lake modification" of a Grimley,
Albrecht and Micheltich procedure which uses Grimley's malachite green
solution and basic fuchsin solution, but I would appreciate any further
information.
I need a straightforward staining procedure. We are staining this tissue for
sterological analysis and are trying not to shrink the tissue by more than
50%.
