Nora,

Von Kossa is a very good stain. I used it all the time when calcium needed
to be demonstrated. All sections were cut at 4 microns without any
problems. Just put the coplin jar with the silver solution as close to the
light bulb of a lamp as you can. I used a single bulb desk lamp with a
flexible neck and a 100 watt bulb.

Hope this helps.

We are considering using von Kossa on some bone harvest chamber samples.
What is the minimum thickness that can be used for this stain? What do you
all think of this stain?

Thank you for your help & Happy New Year!!!!

Nora
