Aidan,

I always wondered about that too. All I could come up with is that the
concentration is lowered just a bit by the evaporation.

Hi all,

Have just completed a series of stains using the Modified Bielschowsky
stain for neurofibrillary tangles, with great results. I was wondering
if
anyone out there in histo-land knows of the significance of the
'evaporated
ammonia' that is called for in the protocol? Have tried using just
standard conc. ammonia, but results were a bit dubious (may have just
been
the fickle nature of the silver stain). Not urgent, but any info would
be
appreciated.

Cheers.
Aidan
