RE: Harris Hematoxylin

From:"Marshall Terry Dr, Consultant Histopathologist"

Though we have had this discussion before, years ago, I still fail to appreciate how one can make a Haematoxylin with sodium iodate (rather than mercuric chloride)and still call it Harris'.
Why not go the whole hog and make the excellent Gill's?

Hello Everybody,

Does anyone out there make their own Harris Hematoxylin? Are you
having any difficulties lately? We've experienced some problems lately
and have been trying to narrow it down. We've changed Hematoxylin
brands, sodium iodate and now are trying a different brand of aluminum
ammonium sulfate. Any hints on what else to try? Thanks. Barb
