The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Medical Center, South
Carolina's premiere tertiary care hospital and School of Medicine
located in beautiful, historic Charleston, SC, has an immediate opening
for an experienced technical coordinator for its Histology Laboratory. 
Situated in downtown Charleston, the medical center's location offers
ready access to the city's finest dining and cultural events. The city
is located directly on the South Carolina coast between Myrtle Beach and
Hilton Head with proximity to many of the southeast's recreational
playgrounds.

The successful candidate for this position will be a self-starter
capable of supervising an experienced team of fifteen comprising the
Routine Histology, Special Stains, Grossing and Accessioning sections.
This individual will possess technical expertise in the preparation of
high quality paraffin sections, special stains and immunohistochemistry,
as well as a proven track record in day to day operations management and
problem solving, compliance with all laboratory accrediting agencies,
familiarity with billing compliance issues and QA and CQI activities in
a busy clinical department. Candidate must be customer service oriented
and equipped to meet the needs of this busy diagnostic service while
ensuring that the highest standards of excellence are maintained for the
delivery of patient care at the medical center. Proven leadership skills
and excellent written and verbal communication skills are considered
essential for this position.

A B.S. degree in medical technology or one of the biological sciences
and a minimum of five years experience in a clinical histology
laboratory is required however ten years of clinical histology
experience is strongly preferred.  Certification in histotechnology (or
equivalent) with a national certifying agency is also required.

Salary for this challenging position is commensurate with experience
and prior accomplishments.
