This book is excellent! One of the best explanations of the Avidin-biotin
complex resides in this book not to mention basics of immunohistochemisty. 

For antigen retrieval and from Eaton, Antigen Retrieval Technics, by Shi,
Taylor and Gu, 75$ for a book that tells all (don't have to dig through
literature for all methods, theory, it is in this book written by the AR
gurus!) This book is a must for labs performing antigen retrievals routinely.
