Hi,
The information that I have from CAP states that you keep the following:
Wet tissue 2 wks post final report
Slides 10 years
Reports 10 years
Accession Log records 4 yrs
maintenance Records 2 yrs
This is the minimum requirement from CAP but state and local authorities due vary greatly on this issue. With the advent of DNA studies and treatment protocols available. We currently keep material for a minimum of 20 yrs slide and blocks and reports are stored electronically for indefinite timeframe.
