Re: Histology Educators
Hi to all,
I am an avid reader of the Histonet but for many reasons have not really
partaken in the discussion section but this time I wanted to put in my
information in case anyone is interested.
I am an instructor for an on-line Histology program here in Jacksonville,
Florida. This is a college based, NAACLS approved program associated with
Florida Community College. It is a two year program that earns an AS degree
in Histotechnology. At the end of the program you are eligible to sit for
your HT exam. This program is 75% on-line (all course work which includes
modules, exams, discussion questions, projects and chat sessions) and twice
a semester students from all over the state travel to FCCJ for hands-on
introduction and instruction. In their second and third semester they are
actually in a practicum out in a local institution learning from "seasoned"
histotechs. This semester we have had 24 students and it is getting way too
much for one instructor. It is a wonderful program that meets the needs and
demands of today's ever-changing, fast-paced world.
If you care to find out more you can contact me by e-mail or Merry Carter
(program director) at mcarter@fccj.org.
Sincerely,
Kaye Ryan, BA,HT(ASCP)
