RE: Antigen retrieval

From:"Dawson, Glen"

Laurie,

It is NOT necessary at all. I currently do well over 100 IHC stains and all
are optimized for FFPE tissues. Because formalin is the preferred fixative,
most commercially available antibodies will work on crosslinked tissues with
retrieval & some don't even need it. My stuff looks great & I prefer to do
my work on FFPE stuff since I know what the results should be with this
fixative.

I was wondering if it was necessary to use zinc formalin to enhance IHC
staining and prevent cross-linking if you were doing antigen retrieval for
every antibody. Any comments???
