Paraffin processing brain slices

From:Delorise Williams

Hi Bert, We standardly paraffin process 3mm thick sections of rat brain
that have been dropped fixed in 10% NBF or perfusion fixed by NBF or
GLUT/PARAF. I have cut 5 to 30 microns paraffin sections with no problems
except that a longer soaking time is required for sections over 10 microns.
Our rat tissue processing schedule is about 8 hours starting with 70 %
ETOH. The brain tissue does have to be adequately fixed. We also cut 60
micron frozen sections from NBFF brains that have been frozen on chucks.
