When we use lithium carbonate to blue sections we generally use a very
dilute solution,  8-10 drops of saturated solution per 100 mll distilled
water. Stronger solutions tend to lift some sections from slides.
Additionally, if traces of lithium carbonate are left in the section
eosin staining takes much longer.
