re:Histogel
Our lab has used Histogel for about 4 years and love it. We use it mainly for
cytology cell blocks. We centrifuge a well-mixed portion of the specimen,
pour off the supernatant, and add a few drops of Histogel to the sediment.
Number of drops needed depends on the sediment. We refrigerate the sediment
until firm, and then place the cell block in a cassette for processing. We
also make cell blocks with the Histogel of ECC specimens that are fairly
"skimpy". Centrifuge the formalin to obtain the sediment and add Histogel.
