Two weeks notice is standard

From:TOMANDBOB@aol.com

Hi John and Steve; It's interesting to see the different interpretations. If Steve is intent on using the 2 weeks vacation as part of the notice then one could argue that it is "unprofessional" but not necessarily horribly wrong. Two weeks not counting any leave time is perfectly acceptable both in industry and medical arenas. Taking unused vacation days as pay is the way to go. There is nothing keeping anyone from giving, say, a day's notice if they just can't stand it anymore. Please remember that places like industry for example can fire you with NO notice at anytime they like. On the other hand, many people who have good relations with their soon to be former employers and want to give them lots of time to hire and finish certain projects, etc., give 4 weeks notice. Just my thoughts.
