A word of warning about cobalt chloride which you may well know
already. This compound has for some time been classed as toxic
and recently deemed to be a carcinogen. We have withdrawn all
silica gel which uses cobalt chloride as an indicator and disposed
as carcinogenic waste. The main hazard is by inhalation of the fine
dust so be careful if you are weighing it.
