Re: Automatic coverslippers

From:Adelsysnancy@cs.com

we had the same problem, but found that the mounting media and pressure settings play a significant role. We switched to a mountant recommended by Hacker, there are several, but we tried the Shandon consul-mount. Once switched, we adjusted our machines to drop across the slides, not just at the end, and "tweeked" the amount dispensed.  We kept our pressure set at around 0.5 as well.  There are several ways to keep the dispenser clean, like purging the unit,(at least once a week) to make sure that the mountant of course is dispensing at all.  Sometimes we found that although the machine appeared to be working, watching it closely, revealed no mountant dispensing due to thickening and clogging in the jar and in the dispensing lines, needle, etc.
The consul-mount does not harden in the jar like Permount did and we had great success on all 3 of our Hacker coverslippers. As far as coverslips go, either Shandon no-stick coverslips or Superslips worked the best for us.
good luck
Nancy
