Either 5 % formic acid (aq) or EDTA decal will work without deliterious
effects.
The thing that is tricky is whether the GFP chosen is stable to organic
solvents (e.g. alcohol) or not. EGFP from Clontech or any of the enhanced
variants are alcohol stable. See their Living Colors booklet at
www.clontech.com
