Cobalt Chloride Formula

From:Jeff and Wanda Gray

Called the old place of employment today and received the following:

 1.5% Cobalt Chloride

15 gm Cobalt Chloride
1000 ml Absolute Ethanol (100%)

Mix well. Add 50-60 ml of 1.5% Cobalt Chloride to the absolute alcohols on
the tissue processor (in this case a VIP 300). Rotate alcohols when
solution turns pink.

Sorry all, but there is no reference attached to the procedure.
They put this in all their alcohols, and yes the first xylene has a bluish
tint. They have used this procedure for over 20 years, and they get good
results on routine slides and immunos.
