Re the non working retic stain, first are you using fresh potassium
permanganate each time? If you treat the slides on a rack you can just use a
dropper full of the permanganate and that will sufice.
Next, are you going back through the silver again after the formalin
treatment? Sometimes you need to go back even more than twice.
Are you checking the progress of your stains as you go under a scope?
How fresh is your gold chloride and what type are you using?
Last and most importantly, are you doing the proper dance around the
stain table and using the proper chant?
