The article was written by Joyce Moore, Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
To test the pH theory would not be that difficult, and could be done
without a granting agency supporting it.  I don't think that was the case
with this publication.
A  natural curiosity could drive someone to run the test, probably in a day
- using this buffer at different pH's.  Hmmm  --- might have to try it
sometime.
