I have used a solution called Bouin's Substitute from IMEB for the past 2
years and it works wonderfully.

I have an old Histonet message that indicates Weigert's iodine may be
used
in place of Bouin's. Apparently three minutes at room temperature in
Weigert's yields good results, although I have not tried this.
