I have just tried the same technique and did not have overstaining.  I am
using it at the full 30 minutes and am very careful not to linger in water
or alcohol as I do not want to lose any of the stain.  I would simply make
fresh light green and try it again at 30 minutes.  Perhaps there was a
simple miscalculation that you are unaware of.

Hi all,

I have tried the apop modified trichrome technique written up in the Dec
99 Histotech Journal.  Done exactly as written I have extreme
over-staining of the second (green) stain. I have it down to 7 1/2 mins
and still get some over-stain.  Is there something I'm missing?
Should I dilute the stain instead of cutting down on time?

I need a surefire apop technique if there are any others out there please
let me know.
