Regarding a user-friendly publishing program for newsletter editors:

I have been using Adobe Pagemaker for several years to publish the 
Michigan Society newsletter.  It's very easy to use and gives great 
results.  Plus, it is available for both Mac and PC.  I believe the 
New York Society uses this also.
