We are a Regional Histology Lab and do histology for 8 different facilities.
We have about 45,000 cases/year, Currently 7 techs, but have added one more
starting 2-1-00 so we can bring IP's in-house. Because of the need to
supply cases for all facilities early AM, we start embedding at 2:00 AM with
3 techs. The other 4 come in at 3:00 PM. We take special requests for same
day turnaround until 11:00 AM. We haven't firmed up our IP requests yet.

Subject: Turn around times
Question,
What are your turn around
times for special stains, immunos and deepers? We are a private
hospital/group (~19,000 cases/year, 5 techs) and have sameday turn around
times for special stains and deepers ordered before 2:00 pm. The turn
around for immunos is same day if ordered before 8:30 am (we have 2 hour
incubations!!!). All replies would be helpful, please indicate if you are
an acedemic setting and case load/staff number. Thank you....very much!!
