I have successfully used Long's method for reticulin for many years. It has
the added advantage that the ammoniacal silver solution is stable for some
months - depending on the frequency of use and how well it is looked after.
You can find the protocol in: Stain Technology, Vol 23, No.2 April 1948 pp
69-75.
