Dear Jan Willen de Groot:
Concerning IHC staining of vessel walls embedded in methacrylate: I would
recommend immunogold labeling of methacrylate-embedded tissues (see Tacha,
D. et al. J Histotech 16(1):13-17 (1993). Zymed makes HistoGold(tm) kits
which are ideal for this use. Also if you are having trouble with the SMA
antibody, you might consider anti-CD34 which reacts with hemopoietic stem
cells and small-vessel endothelial cells.
