RE: [Histonet] GMS Stain

From:"Weems, Joyce"

I've had a few questions regarding the perm solution. I knew I had readsomething somewhere - p445 Sheehan! She says to remove silver stains fromyour hands with perm solution, so I thought it should work on tissue aswell. It has been quite a while ago. I believe I used it full strengh andkept water close by to swish and dip until it looked just right. j:>)-----Original Message-----From: histonet-bounces@lists.utsouthwestern.edu[mailto:histonet-bounces@lists.utsouthwestern.edu]On Behalf Of Bonner,JanetSent: Tuesday, February 10, 2004 11:16 AMTo: 'Joyce Cline'; Histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.eduSubject: RE: [Histonet] GMS Stain To remove excess silver ,we dip the slides in 4% Chromic acid and rinsein 1% sodium bisulfite, then check under the scope. If too light, start atthe silver step again. Remember that generally a solution is first in theprocess because it affects the remaining steps, either to enhance or remove!
