Re: recycling system
I have to agree with the positive responses on the Creative Waste recycling
systems.
This is a small lab and the cost of the recyclers is way more than we
wanted to spend, still we wanted to save money by buying less alcohol if
possible.
We use the alcohol system here with great results for both the stain line
and the processor alcohols. We also have the xylene pads to absorb moisture
from the xylenes. We just dry them out overnite or over the weekend when we
change the stain line and they are ready to go. It has been almost a year
since we started recycling the alcohol. The alcohol has been reused in both
the stain line and the processor without problems. Like the response from
Victor, when the hydrometer shows less than 100% we use the recycled
alcohol as 95% - using the hydrometer you can dilute to 95%.
We normally get our tissues prefixed and brought to the lab in 70& ETOH and
we don't use formalin on the processor so we don't use the formalin system.
The company was at the last NSH.
