Tom,
Have you looked into Surgipath slide labeler?  You
have to manually insert a slide to be labeled, but if
you are doing GLP studies that require research
number,tissue identification, sequence number, and
HSRL, look into it.
Since we bought ours, we have reduced the the number
of writing errors (some write neater that others) and
we have disregarded sticker labels. Good Luck!
