Dear Ian,

Since do you have to deparaffinize plastic sections. If you really mean plastic and the plastic is PMMA then you can use chloroform, aceton or xyleen. I always use a mixture of chloroform and xyleen (1/1), three changes of 15 minutes each followed by 15 minutes xyleen. Then bring the sections through alcohol to water.
