storing unstained bone marrow smears

From:Tara Miller

Hi all,

I checked the archives on unstained slide storage, but didn't find anything
on unstained bone marrow smears. We have a few years worth of bone marrow
smears filed separately that we would like to get throw away.

The question is how long can we keep these slides before they're no longer
any good for staining. I'm sure iron stains would probably work well after a
while, but what about esterase, Sudan black B and phosphotase stains. I've
heard that these histochemistry stains don't work well on slides just a few
weeks old. Any advice?

Thanks for any advice,
Tara Oakes, H.T.
