Stain fro streptococcal cell wall

Hi all,

I need to do a stain for streptococcal bacteria cell wall in an inflamed joint and would like to know which staining method is the most optimal, easiest, safest to perform.  I have been looking at the Gram stain, Brown and Brenn as well as the Brown and Hopps staining methods, but fear I may have a safety issue with ordering picric acid for my lab. 

Any suggestions?  Are there any effective substitutions for picric acid steps?
