RE: guide lines for IHC FTE

From:"Morken, Tim"

Debbie, it depends if you are automated or not. I used to do 50 slides a day
by myself with manual methods and that was a full day. In a different setup,
I worked with another tech and we did 150 per day manually. Now with a
machine I can do two runs of 48 slides each (with one machine and sequential
runs) and it is not a problem at all - I spend about three hours of actual
hands-on time (getting slides together, setting up the run, coverslipping
etc) and the machine does the rest. Meanwhile I've got 5 hours to do
something else.

Debbie,

I have 2.5 FTE's (including myself) and average about 70 IHC's daily. I am
also responsible for a significant amount of research for the Dept. of
Pathology @ the Medical College of WI and we help out main histology when
they are understaffed.

I'm looking for guidelines of how many IHC cases are done for one
FTE. We are getting pretty busy and need to show some statistics.
I sure would appreciate any imput. Thanks
