Non-Paper Protected Health Information Waste

From:"Cheasty, Sandra"

How do other labs handle the empty plastic formalin bottles that have patient information adhered to them? Our non-paper PHI waste guy will not take them because of the chemical hazard risk of formalin having been in these containers. Currently we are putting them in red bio-hazard bags which are incinerated so the PHI is destroyed but the cost is excessive.

Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome.

Oh yes, and does anyone have a good recipe for rice?
