Our VIP tissue processor malfuntioned last evening.  The only error code was #20, that the retort did not reach pressure in the time allotted.  This happened in step 10, which is immediately before the paraffins.  We tightened the latches, and ran a program starting in step 10 and finishing with the usual times.  However, when we opened the retort to remove the blocks, the formalin smell was overwhelming and the blocks still contained water . . . something else obviously malfuntioned. Our biomed is coming to investigate the problem, but I was hoping someone who has been through this before could maybe help with some suggestions.  All I can think of is a valve problem.
