Hi,
    This is really just a guess but could the section have been dried in a
microwave for a long time or in one that is on the fritz? It looks "burned"
to me, but it is burned just in localized areas. I'll have to agree with
Terry that more info would help. If you do find out what it is, please share
it with the rest of us so that if we ever see anything like it we'll look
smart ;-)
