The stain is simple.
Stock Rhodanine saturated 
sol.                                                          0.5% Sodium Borax
5 p-dimethylaminobenzylidene Rhodanine  0.2 
gm.                           Sodium Borax   0.5gm
Absolute ethanol                                          100.0 
ml                           Distilled water  100.0 ml

Working soultion
Rhodanine sat. 
sol.                                        3.0ml              Shake stock 
before measuring
Distilled water                                              100.0 ml

The Rhodanine we are using was obtained from Eastman Kodak many years ago 
the cat no. was 2748

1   Deparaffinize and hydrate to distilled water
2   Place slides in a plastic coplin jar containing the working Rhodanine 
solution. Microwave in a 1200 watt microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds. 
Allow slides to remain in the solution as it cools down , about 5 minuttes.
3   Wash well in several changes of water
4   Mayer's hematoxylin for 5 minutes
5   Wash well in running tap water
6   Rinse slides in 0.5% sodium Borax
7.  Rinse well in distilled water
8.  Dehydrate, clear and mount

it is best not to let the slides stand in xylene for a prolonged period, 
any carryover of ethanol will fade the stain
