Aldehyde fuchsin after fixation with Bouin's. Beta cells are a rich purple.
If you can't get paraldehyde (a controlled substance these days) you can use
acetaldehyde (I think) or some other aldehyde to make the stain. I can
supply a reference if you need it. A colleague did a lot of work on this in
the '80's. Hmmm, does that sound like a long time ago?
