The original description was of sulphated alcian green.
It's a very good stain (with a simple V.G. counterstain) for demonstrating amyloid. Congo red et al is too wishy-washy to project on a slide/photo.
What about differentiating the types of amyloid with it though?
(Isn't it a bit old fashioned to do it in this way anyway?)
