Dear people at histonet,

I have several basic questions on the use of microtome
knifes. We are using non-disposable knifes. First,
when sharpening the knife, should the knife angle
remain constant or steadily decrease with a quarter of
a degree or so? We get contradictory advise from the
more experienced people we ask. Second, what should
the clearance angle be for a C or D knife? If I
understand correctly it should be 2 to 4 degrees for a
C knife and 1 to 2 degrees for a D knife. I hope some
you can help us with these questions.
